How to Run GW-BASIC and Other 16 bit Programs in Microsoft Windows 7 and 8
If you want to use GW-BASIC for educational purpose, and you have upgrade PC or Microsoft Windows 7 or 8, then you cannot use this program because it is not compatible for windows 7 and 8. In GW-BASIC if you want to use screen 2 command then your system will give you error, that this system does not support full screen mode.
Solution of this error:
There are two best methods for using GWBasic program in Microsoft Windows 7 and 8.
1- Install windows 2000 or xp, using VMware Workstation in your operating system.
2- Install DOSBox free utility in your windows 7 or 8, It will run 16 bit programs and run directly GW-BASIC on your PC.

Method one is difficult, because its waste your precious time and you want registered version of VMware Workstation, and Windows 2000 or Windows xp CD.
So I recommended you to use DOSBox free application and solve your problem.
DOSBox Installing Instructions:
1- Download and run DOSBox setup file. www.dosbox.com
2- Put GWBasic application directly on your C: drive
2- Put GWBasic application directly on your C: drive
3- Run DOSBox program from desktop shortcut
4- Type Mount c c:\ and press enter and then type c:\gwbasic and run the GWBasic
5- Follow the below pictures to run GWBasic Screen 2 or 16 bit programs without any error.
